Holocaust survivor stories come in many forms - originally they were mostly oral history, told from one generation to the next. There have also been diaries detailing the personal accounts of holocaust victims and survivors. Holocaust survivor stories were the inspiration for many films and books about the subject, including Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List.

Schindler's List is based on a book detailing the story of Oskar Schindler. The Schindler's List film presents the true story of the Nazi party member who saved over 1100 Jews from concentration camps during the Jewish Holocaust of World War II. If it were not for the sharing and passage of Holocaust survivor stories from person to person, this film may not have been possible. In addition to the book, the film also utilized Holocaust survivor stories from people all over the world who experienced the Holocaust first hand.
